This is a really cool place and well worth the trip to visit. The store almost defies description as it seems to have multiple personalities. It has a small selection of the things you might find in any country store...light bulbs, cleaning products and cold drinks. It is also a book store with a nice selection of local authors, and regional books and guides. It is also a nice small wine store with a good selection of quality wines (15% discount for the or more bottles). It is also a sandwich shop with a nice selection of meats and cheeses and fresh local bread (some made in house). It is also a great store for quality cheeses and smoked meats. These are complemented by lots of specialty sauces, haha, jellies and the like Oh yeah, and it also has an interesting selection of knickknacks.

I guess that means that this is everybody's store for everything!

The outside may not look like much, but inside is a treasure trove!

Don't let the two dollar sign rating fool you, for what this store has, it's 100% worth whatever you pay for it! Crazy delicious meats and cheeses cut at your request, tastes of anything you might want to try in their case. Gluten free, and vegan baked treats and dry pastas. Even some awesome blown glass items for your recreational herbal remedies or a bracelet that doubles as a pipe. Wine, clothing items, ice cream, and pretty much anything else you could dream of... and some things you couldn't even imagine!
Parking can be a little tricky, so pay attention to the signs posted, but I guarantee you will be greeted by some of the most friendly people I've seen in a teeny out of the way place in a very long time.
I promise we will be back!

This store is clearly going downhill. We have recently moved back to Whatcom county and frequent this road. I stopped in this store a few times to grab a snack and just stretch my legs. My husband always told me stories about this place and the Nickel Pickle. Well, now that same pickle is almost $2.

The last time we stopped I noticed a For Sale sign in the front. My daughter had to use the restoom and since we had used the inside facilities in the past, I was quite surprised when they directed us to a very disgusting porta-potty out near the road. It was disgusting and hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. I couldn't even close the door on my daughter, it smelled so bad.

So, I sure hope someone makes them an offer and they have a chance to clean the place up. I won't be going back until improvements are made.

A fantastic country store at a bend in the road on HWY 9 in the tiny town of Van Zantz. All kinds of nifty novelties, beers, wines, books, candies, bulk herbs, etc. I bought what they had left of their peppermint leaves and can't wait to make tea with it.
Just an absolutely lovely little store with a wonderful, helpful staff.
      I will definitely be back!

This store isn't much to look at on the outside. I'm sure many people drive by it and don't have a clue to what they are missing. They have a great assortment of gourmet cheeses. You can also get deli meat sliced to go. They make sandwiches which are delicious. They also have a variety of bakery items from the local bakeries in Bellingham. They also have an extensive variety of local wine.

Two to three times a year my spouse and I would make the trip from Eastern Skagit County to Everybody's Store. We had been doing it for three years, usually spending $100-$150 each visit.

Then, three years ago, I was excited to bring family visiting from Illinois for the cheeses and the LandJaeger. I had also planned to buy some of their Native carvings/masks this trip as well as the pre-packaged soup mixes they offer. We had coolers with us for tons of cheese we were going to bring home.

At the counter, I was greeted in somewhat of a non-plussed manner by a blonde woman, probably in her forties, looking like a fairly typical local tree-hugger type (pretty much the norm there). What has also always been the norm is the kind, helpful treatment we receive.

      Not so this time.

I asked a very specific, succinctly worded question about the LandJaeger. What I got in return shocked the heck out of me: "That's a pretty crazy question you are asking. I can't answer you". And with that, she walked away, as if she was refusing to help me any further.

What was my "crazy", unanswerable question? It was this: "What are the types of meat in the non-spicy LandJaeger you offer?"

Can't say I've ever been any place where you buy, they sell, and if they aren't following your question they don't at least say, "I'm not sure I understand what you're asking". Replacing that common form if communication with calling my clearly stated question "crazy" was bizarre, surreal, and shocking, to say the least.

My wife, my sister-in-law and I walked out, proceeded to tell the other three adults ready to spend their money what had just transpired. We got in our vehicles and left. They lost, oh...about $500 in sales from us that day.

Everybody's Store never saw another dime from us nor will we ever recommend them again. I'm not surprised they closed if what we experienced became the norm.

I have stopped for sandwiches at this store in the past. They are Huge and good, with freshly sliced meats and cheeses.
However, my last visit was another story. First off, the website hours are incorrect. They open at 9, not at 7:30am. I arrived at 8:56 and a very frazzled employee reluctantly let me in. It took 45 minutes to make 4 sandwiches, putting a damper on my trip.
When I reached my destination, I discovered that my sandwich was soggy. Very disappointing.

Stopped by there yesterday and had a sandwich. It was one of the best sandwiches we ever had and because it was so big the "cppk" cut it into 4 segments and separated it into 2 bags with "his" and "hers" marked on it. Great service and great deli with many choices of meats and cheeses. It is worth the drive out there alone!

This place is awesome. Excellent selection of meats, cheeses, and beer to wash it all down. They also make Sandwiches which are the bomb. Its your classic mom and pop shop. Too bad there aren't more of these places these days.
