We must point out that our terms and conditions have been in place for several years and are accessible during the checkout process. We did not “revert” our policy in a flippant manner as you suggested. Additionally, we make sure to include a link to our terms and conditions in every confirmation email, as well as a separate paragraph outlining our cancellation policy. Regarding the location of our tours, we provide detailed travel instructions on our website and in the confirmation email. We apologize if there was any confusion, but it is important for customers to thoroughly read the information provided before making a booking. We do our best to ensure that our customers have all the necessary information to plan their visit to San Juan Island.
We understand that you were disappointed with our cancellation policy and the inability to reschedule your tour. As a small company with limited resources, we face certain constraints in accommodating last-minute cancellations. Selling reserved seats is crucial for us to cover our costs, and unfortunately, we were unable to resell your seat on short notice. We genuinely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
We always strive to uphold our end of the agreement by securing seats for our customers and being prepared to lead them on an enjoyable kayak tour. We understand that it would have been preferable to have more available dates for rescheduling, but our limited resources sometimes make it challenging to offer a wide range of options.
Here is the official verbiage of our cancelation policy:
Cancelling your Reservation: In order to continue providing the high quality trips that our guests are accustomed to experiencing with us, we need to know that you will honor your reservation. Once you book a trip with us, we protect the spaces that you have reserved. Considerable time, money, and staff preparation goes into creating our great kayak trips. Unlike the airline industry, we do not overbook our kayak tours to hedge against potential cancellations. Due to our much smaller capacity and the brief seasonal nature of our business, late cancellations and “no shows” hit us much harder than the airline and hotel industry. Nevertheless, our refund policy is quite similar to theirs. Therefore, we strongly advise that you purchase travel insurance to protect yourself.
The following refund policy must be adhered to for the reasons stated above. Cancellations must be received in writing to be official, and the refund rates are based on the date of receipt. More than thirty days prior to departure: 100% refund. Fifteen to thirty days prior to departure: 50% refund. Zero to fourteen days prior to departure: 0% refund.
