This family-friendly, riverside brewery and gastropub serves a plethora of award-winning beers that perfectly compliment our delicious, local food. Nestled in the foothills of the cascades, this destination brewery is a gem of a discovery in every season. We regularly feature live music and are the thriving heartbeat of the Methow Valley. Our focus is on quality ingredients--the choicest hops, perfectly malted grains, and our famously delicious Winthrop water, all overseen by our Head Brewer, Kyle Koger. At OSB, we are more than just about the beer. We bring the community together, so authentic connections can be made. Come discover for yourself! We can't wait to get to know you. Cheers--

Q:
Are dogs allowed in the outdoor area?
A:
No, but there are dogs available at the Taproom in Twisp or the Public House in Mazama

Is there a family friendly area or time where minors are permited? I understand it's a tavern, but remember the burgers were above average and would hate to miss the opportunity to grab lunch there because we have the kids.
A:
Kids are allowed all the time in most of the space. No one under 21 is allowed in special area near the bar.

Delicious waffle fries. Odd tasting pickled onions, but the others at our table loved it. Fun, cozy place right on the river. Waitress was a tad odd, but other than that, highly recommend!

A favorite stop winter, summer or fall usually after some kind of fun outdoor activity. We especially enjoy stopping in after a winter day of cross country skiing. We usually have a lot of company.
It's a fun pub atmosphere with quality beer and simple food, mostly burgers, salads and sandwiches. Outdoor seating looking out at the river is terrific during the warm weather and there is a small stage for live music out back. Stop in for a Ruud awakening IPA with your new friends.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 19, 2022Previous reviewA favorite stop winter, summer or fall usually after some kind of fun outdoor activity. Cool spot in a cool town (old Wild West themed).
It was getting hot out and we decided to duck in for some air conditioning and cold beer.
It was right around lunch time and they were busy, but we found a seat and proceeded to the bar to place our order.
We ordered a flight of beer to try some different styles. The bartender was great, even though she was busy.. I didn't have to wait long.
The beers were good and the old schoolhouse motif was cool.
They also have food, but we had just eaten lunch.. the food looked good.
We would definitely come back for another beer and/or to try the food.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - 24360790Jun 5, 2023
We stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place was fairly crowded but it took quite a while to be acknowledged by anyone. Once we ordered it took about 45 minutes to get our food which seemed long.
My husband got the steak sandwich and I got the Reuben. Both had good flavor but not very much meat. For $18 neither came with fries so we did order the garlic waffle fries on the side to split but we couldn't see or taste any garlic. The beers we tried were pretty good but I think we'll try something else next time we come to town.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jul 28, 2023
This cute little restaurant sits on the river, we set on the back patio lower deck and enjoyed the view. I ordered the Arrow Amber and it was a well crafted beer, and the Fish and Chips was probably the best I've ever had. Fresh Pacific Cod, battered in ale and panko breading, perfectly fried and crispy served with garlic fries that were on point! My friend got the Old Schoolhouse burger and the other a salad and were both very pleased! The whole town is a cute lil western town well worth a visit!

A pretty standard little brew pub, but when in Winthrop, it's the place to go. They have a variety of beers and ales, as well as a rotating cider or two, great sweet potato fries (an order of fries is enough for 3 or 4 people), and the usual variety of pub food (burgers, etc.). You can eat inside, on the porch out back (well ventilated and with heaters available) or in domes on the ground below (reservations required for the domes). In short, tailor your seating choice to your COVID exposure risk.
It's not fancy, but it's solid and the best in town in my opinion.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 4, 2022
Finding the Old School Brewery while in Whintrop was a happy accident! My husband was so excited to visit, as he was familar with their beer. We enjoyed some tasts while sitting at the bar. My hsabdn (the beer drinker) enjoy quite a few. The interior has tons of local charm, and the bar tender (who we later found out is the owner) was friendly and welcoming. We didn't end up eating, but looked like the kitchen was busy. We are looking foward to a return visit.
